How To Make Pressed Flower Cards

There’s something so special about receiving a handmade card - they are the perfect way to tell someone you are thinking of them. In a fast-paced world, opening a card that a loved-one has taken the time and thought to create feels magical.

Decorating cards with pressed flowers is a lovely, mindful activity, bringing enjoyment to both the creator and receiver. Flowers are of course, inherently beautiful, so it makes perfect sense to use them in card making, and your creations will no doubt be left on display for much longer than a shop-bought card!

I like to use recycled craft card for my pressed flower cards, and I then tear sheets of gorgeous handmade lokta paper to create rectangular shapes, glueing these to the front of the card. Next I select a pressed flower and carefully glue it onto the lokta paper to make a simple and elegant card. You can of course decorate your cards with as many pressed flowers as you like - let your individual creativity shine through!

It’s a lovely idea to use symbolic flowers for your cards - for example a pressed birth-month flower for a birthday card, ‘baby’s breath’ flowers to celebrate a new arrival, or forget-me-nots (a symbol of eternal love and remembrance) for a sympathy card.
